We’ve created this motorhome camping checklist that includes everything you need — personal items, camping supplies, and motorhome equipment — so you are thoroughly prepared for this one-of-a-kind and exciting outdoor endeavor.
Clothing & Personal Items
Although the summers may be short and the winters long, Alaska experiences all four seasons as the rest of the United States does. Below is a basic list of clothing and personal items you may need while camping in your motorhome. Choose clothing wisely based on the time of year you will be camping. (Yes, many people camp in Alaska in the winter.)
- Underclothing including thermal underwear
- Sweaters, sweatshirts, and pants
- Winter jackets
- Hats, gloves, boots, and snow pants
- Spring or rain jackets
- Hiking boots or shoes
- Swimsuits
- Summer clothing
- Toiletries such as deodorant, toothbrush, and toothpaste
- Mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and other first-aid items
Bedroom & Bathroom
Simply because you are camping does not mean you can’t be comfortable. Bring these bed and bathroom supplies so you can rest and relax after a day of exploring the Anchorage area:
- Pillows, sheets, and blankets
- Pajamas or loungewear
- Towels
- Shampoo, soap, and lotion
- Hairbrushes, blow dryers, and other similar items
Kitchen
Full kitchens are one reason many people enjoy camping in motorhomes. You can grill hot dogs over an open fire if you’d like or you can cook a simple yet tasty meal with regular kitchen appliances. Be sure to pack these kitchen supplies before embarking on your RV journey:
- Coffee maker, mugs, and coffee
- Cups, plates, and silverware or plasticware
- Kitchen utensils like can openers, mixing spoons, and spatulas
- Sharp knife and cutting board
- Pots and pans
- Food containers for leftovers
- Dishcloths, towels, and oven mitts
- Matches or lighter
